Welcome to the "MoonWard Going Forward" (MGF Summer 2026) blog!
I'm Mr. Slate and I'm here to let you know what's next for MoonWard in the coming few months!

MoonWard: Pirates of the Mesmer Sea
Out NOW for Android & iOS!
It was a bit of a struggle this time, but I managed to get it (mostly-read more below) done and published on time! I hope at this point you're all enjoying the new campaign, bosses, enemies and items!

The Pirates expansion brings:
A Grand New Pirate Adventure!
New Deadly Multi-Stage Boss Fights!
New Island Area to Explore!
Dozens of New Items!
New Enemies and Bounties to Defeat!
New Characters, Environments and Music!
A Ton of Fixes, Balancing and Improvements!
I've been resting these last few weeks, doing a little bit of admin here and there, preparing for upcoming events (read more below), a small marketing overhaul and an upcoming stability patch!
Upcoming MoonWard Expansions
That's a bit misleading, I'm not announcing the next expansion, yet. You'll have to wait for the Autumn 26 MGF blog for that!
BUT, I did want to reiterate! My plan is to release 2 expansions per year. The most likely months when those will come out are January and July each year. So keep that in mind!
I'll have to scale back on the new features for the next expansions, Pirates stretched my abilities a little too far. Story-wise, however, I think this is about the right amount for the work time I can commit. Same with items and enemies. Pirates felt like the right amount for both so I'll keep that up. The hub for Pirates took way too long to construct - and I don't mean just on the technical side - I had to spend a ton of time building the environment, the map, the atmosphere. A lot more than I expected. So, really, the only only thing less likely to feature in future expansions is new hubs/bounties etc.
Upcoming MoonWard Events
I'll be quite busy this summer, demoing MoonWard at two(!) expos back to back.

Megacon Manchester on August 1st/2nd!
I'll be hosting a demo table for MoonWard (and maybe another project if I have the space). Come say hi, chat and get some free goodies!

EGX/MCM Birmingham on August 8th/9th!
Same as above! But in Birmingham! Hope to see you there!
I'm really excited about these. Last Megacon was one of the highlights of that year for me, so I'm expecting a really fun couple of weekends (if hectic and exhausting)! Last August I met a ton of devs and publishers, and got to show off my game to a brand new crowd of people (to varying degrees of success)!
Dozens of people played MoonWard. As you can imagine, all that feedback was very useful for the full release not long after the event, in October. Granted, I was a little inexperienced so I also messed up a bit. But that's ok. I learned my lessons and I feel much more confident when it comes to talking to strangers, and maybe even exciting them about my games!
Either way, I'm sure it'll be a great time and I'd love to see you at either expo! Oh, one last thing.

The In-game MoonWard Autumn Event!
This will occur between the 21st of September and 21st of October!
Yup, there will be one of these for each season! The summer event just finished today. I haven't heard much feedback for it, which, to be honest, I think is a good thing. I always meant for it to be unintrusive and it seems to have achieved that.
In fairness, the Autumn event isn't actually complete (another thing I couldn't finish for Pirates), so a part of the functional bits will arrive in the upcoming stability patch.
Upcoming MoonWard Sale
I'm resuming the regular half-off sales for the next few months!
The next one will be between the 15th and 22nd of August! MoonWard will be 50% off on iOS and Android! Make sure to check it out! If you're on Android you have plenty of time to grab the demo and give it a quick play before the sale!
Upcoming MoonWard Patch
The last patch to v1.0.50(52) just came out a few weeks ago with the Pirates expansion! Here's a link to the patch notes! As you can imagine, this was a big one. It introduced a ton of new content, some new features, as well as fixes and updates.
In between expansions, I release a handful of stability updates that usually have very little content. I'm already working on the next patch (most likely v1.0.55). It will include a few more bits than my usual stability patches. This is mostly due to me cutting a few small bits of content from the Pirates release so I could hit the release date.
The next patch will include:
Several bug fixes
A couple of location images
Several replacement enemy portraits
A new item type + one rare item
A few small bits of polish
The Roadmap(?)!
It's difficult to commit to dates when you're a solo dev. I know my schedule isn't the most reliable. I promise, I do try to stick to my deadlines and if I can't - I try to let you know well in advance. With that said, I'm not sure if you could call this a roadmap but I'm realising even just listing some dates here could be useful.

Here we go:
August 1st-2nd - Megacon Live Manchester
August 6th - Stability Patch v1.0.55
August 8th-9th - EGX/MCM Birmingham
August 15th - Start of Summer Sale
August 22nd - End of Summer Sale
September 21st - Start of Autumn Event
September 26th - Start of Autumn Sale
October 3rd - End of Autumn Sale
October 21st - End of Autumn Event
All of these dates are set in stone as far as I'm concerned, however, if something absolutely needs to change I'll let you know on the company social media, Discord, and in The Weekly Slate blogs.

Features
Considering the game is out there's not much left in terms of new features, but here are a few main things I'll be trying to work on in the next few months:
WIP 70%: new intro cinematic. Annoyingly I didn't have the time to finish it for 1.0.1! It wasn't ready for Outlaws or Pirates. I genuinely don't know when I can finish this! It's so close to being done! Argh!
WIP 10%: Smaller, free iOS version! I've been thinking about it and have gone back to my original idea of having the first county complete in a free version on iOS! Unfortunately I had done most of the work and removed all of it from the game when I was getting ready for release. Back then I made a decision to cancel this version of MW. I think I was wrong to do that. Now I'll have to take a look at my source control and grab the code/assets from a previous version. Frankly, though, I don't imagine it'll take long to bring it back to the current build (famous last words). We'll see!
