New version is out now!

Hello! I'm Mr. Slate and here you can find the patch notes for v.1.0.5 of MoonWard and its Demo! This is the latest and as of today current MoonWard patch version.

This patch features a new accessibility settings menu where you can increase the dialogue panel and text size, as well as an option to lengthen move durations. I also added more controller options, did some minor rebalancing and fixed a bunch of bugs!

Let's get to the MoonWard v1.0.5 Patch Notes!

Full Version:

1. Balancing updates!

Not much here honestly, tweaked a few enemies, updated some move durations and nerfed the boss of County 1 a little bit!

I'll be honest, I had a bad experience early on when someone was very upset about me constantly adding fairly major changes to the demo. Since then I've tried to keep things as close to what they were before, including balancing, and only making major changes once in a while. I wasn't very good at announcing changes and new content back then but I've tried to address that with the upcoming features section in the MGF and now with announcing expansions well in advance!

2. Accessibility Options!

New Accessibility Settings!

Not a whole lot to say here. Currently you have access to three options: large dialogue panel, large dialogue text and longer move durations. I was asked for these in a few occasions during live demos and meant to add have them at launch but didn't manage to get to them.

I'll try to include more in the future but unless someone approaches me about something specific I'm not sure what else to add and if I'll be able to afford the time.

3. Controller Options!

New Controller Settings!

Controller support has been in MoonWard (and the demo) for over a year now and very early on I realised I'd need some cursor and scroll speed options to make it nicer to use. Unfortunately I only added those as debug options so nobody else could access them.

Well that's not the case anymore! Anyone can adjust the controller cursor and scroll speed! With that in mind, give a controller a go - the game is now optimised for a few different pads so there shouldn't be much in the way!

4. Optimised Save Files.

This one is a work in progress and I'm fully aware it's not the most interesting feature but it's important for me to give you the best experience possible. Quicker saving and loading of data as well as a smaller footstep on your device are a big deal so I'll continue working on that in the future!

5. Fixed 0 bounty bug.

I've no idea how that one slipped. Maybe this doesn't appear in the Unity editor as often? Anyway, I've added a new command for the game to generate the maximum bounties any time you get low. This should happen all the time including when you go back to the main menu and load your character again. I tested this for a couple of hours and I couldn't repro the bug after the fix so here's hoping it's gone!

6. Fixed story item removal during dialogue.

This is a weird one - I'm not sure how it's slipped by but there was a bug where sometimes you'd lose items in dialogue, then lose the fight or exit the game and then the next time you entered dialogue the item was gone.

I don't believe there was a situation where this was game-breaking as I always try to have a "default" dialogue option but I can see how this would have been a major issue to some players! Either way, I managed to trace the issue and it's now fixed but I'm sorry to anyone who was affected by it!

7. Fixed typos and bugs.

Apart from the abovementioned ones, there was also a chance you couldn't re-play the tutorial fight, there was a bug that prevented you from getting a one time XP reward, a bug in the dialogue system that exited with an error and a bunch more that would have been mostly invisible to you but had to be taken care of. Oh yeah, also one of the stories could be duplicated. Those are all taken care of!

Aside from all those - there were a couple of reports of a crash during combat. I've spent days trying to pinpoint that one to no result. In that time I encountered it 2 times and couldn't reproduce it reliably. I'm looking into improving my debug tools so I can catch and fix it. Until then I'm sorry but it might happen now and again. The one good thing is after re-starting the game behaves perfectly fine and the only progress lost is of the fight and dialogue beforehand. Oh and for all you smart-asses - it's not a memory leak - I have tools for that. The best I could find so far was some sort of native draw error. Anyway - I'm looking into it!

Demo Version:

1. Balancing updates!

Yup, that again! Except that there are a ton of updates coming from the full version that weren't in the demo. Now they are! Huzzah!

2. New Items!

Any item you can get from the market at the same level tiers in the full version, are in the demo as well now! This includes a ton of new items! Huzzah!
